Well, it seems to me that having a TV show about the lions that perform in Siegfried and Roy's Las Vegas show might be just a tid bit in poor taste- given that they're just a mane and stripes away from maiming their poor tamer.
Eleanor McEvoy has a number of lovely songs. Whisper a Prayer to the Moon is beautiful. Great lyric: If I had the powers/I'd give you the stars/the sun and the light/of the moon.
Dark Sun:The Making of the Hydrogen Bomb, by Richard Rhodes. discusses the nuclear arms race. Pretty freaking insane.
